Activision haters, you now have more fuel to further ignite your burning fire of hatred toward the industry's most lamentable publisher. As if the continued title saturation and consumer-scorning comments from the company's president (who shall remain nameless on this blog or at least in my writings from now on) weren't enough, they decide to chastise their most profitable and acclaimed developers. There are still a few holes in this story as of right now, but one could still draw the conclusion that Infinity Ward's leadership has been fucked over. This of course has lead to the two head men over at IW, becoming unemployed.
It all started when reports of a bunch un-uniformed bouncers showing up at IW's studio began to surface on the web. It was said that these bouncers didn't make it clear why they were there, and that the employees at IW we're "freaked out" by these men. Jason West and Vince Zampella, the two head men of IW, fortunately, were nowhere in sight when the bouncers arrived.

A screenshot of Jason West's facebook then showed up on
Kotaku, basically confirming that he in fact is no longer with Infinity Ward. This account has been confirmed by multiple reliable sources to be Jason West true account.
Later on last night, it was discovered that in an
SEC filing made earlier that morning and a human resources investigation was cited by Activision. This was put into effect to investigate "breaches of contract and insubordination by two senior employees at Infinity Ward." The filing read that,
"This matter is expected to involve the departure of key personnel and litigation. At present, the Company does not expect this matter to have a material impact on the Company." As you can see now, there was a serious problem brewing between Inifinty Ward CEOs and Activision.
Word on the streets is that Activision wanted another Modern Warfare game before Infinity Ward's contract expired, which is in October of this year. Inifinity Ward CEOs, who share the rights to the Call Of Duty franchise with Activision, were weary about another COD being released, as they did not receive royalties for previous installments. So basically, Infinity Ward wasn't getting paid for their creation, and wanted out. If this is all true, it is quite unfortunate.
Whether this is a publicity stunt like many or claiming it to be or not, there is one thing I do want to stress. Making games is not easy, and takes a lot of hard work and determination. When you have publishers like Activision who want to, and I quote, "take the fun out of game development," then there is a serious lack of respect for the innovators that make this industry what it is today and a serious lack of respect for the consumers who appreciate and embrace that innovative work.
If this isn't the last straw for many of you, I don't know what is. Even MW fans should be a bit disturbed by what's happening in this situation. It wasn't long ago that similar things were happening between Activison and Double Fine (Brutal Legend) before they jumped shipped to have EA publish them. The developers don't get enough credit in this industry, and that's becoming a serious problem.
My advice to everyone reading, stop buying Activision games. They seriously need a reality check...
